Neither villain nor hero.
Pogrešan izbor (Wrong Choice) is the autobiographical confession of a man known as a Pink Panther. From his own experience he writes about crime, adrenaline, freedom, family, faith and the consequences of his own decisions.
The author presents himself neither as a classic villain nor as a hero, but as a man full of contradictions: intelligent, well read and funny, yet someone who chose a road that finally led him to prison. Through stories from his life and reflections on society, he tries to explain how people justify what they do, and how the line between right and wrong blurs once we find a good enough excuse.
The book keeps returning to one question: how much are we shaped by our choices, and how much by chance, circumstance and the moment we decide to leave our own road.
“He is a bandit with a certain degree of “refinement”, but also a man of code, fully aware of his wrong choices.”

A saga of pain and rock ’n’ roll
The author warns that his story is told out of order. Here the episodes are arranged in the order they happened.

300km/h
A motorcycle, a monastery and a razor’s edge
Early in the morning a “thousand-cc beast” warms up in the yard. He picks a monastery on the map of Serbia and rides there at insane speed. Lying on the grass outside the church, his helmet under his head, he asks himself why something drives him to live on a razor’s edge.

A duet with Zdravko Čolić
A boy from Mionica sings “Jedna zima s Kristinom” on stage with the biggest star of Yugoslav pop. His father, the officer under whom Čolić does his military service, refuses to “arrange” it: first Čolić has to hear the boy sing.

BMW
Belgrade Rascal’s Vehicle
He buys his father the Sunday papers and reads the crime pages himself. One name keeps coming back: Dušan Prelević Prele. When Prele says in an interview that BMW stands for “Beogradsko Mangupsko Vozilo”, Belgrade Rascal’s Vehicle, a lifelong bond with the Bavarian machine begins.

A phone in a guitar
The first of July, half past seven in the morning: arrest. His cellmate D., a Zemun rascal, has hidden a phone inside a Gibson acoustic guitar for years, and an escape attempt is organised through it. Years later he tells Vlado Georgiev that he and D. “studied together”.

In reverse, in the downpour
Around midnight, a cloudburst. A long-haired man rides a bicycle with no lights and looks a lot like Dado Topić. The author shifts into reverse and drives backwards beside him, window down, while they talk.

Schizophrenia by the textbook
After a failed jewellery heist he fakes paranoid schizophrenia, exactly as described in Prof. Jovan Marić’s textbook of clinical neuropsychiatry. He gets through the Rorschach blots and the elephant puzzle, then leaves the psychiatric ward through a cut in the fence, helped by his late friend Prota.

An easy job
A call from Switzerland: “an easy job”. He promises his father, lying in the military hospital, that he will be back in three or four weeks. Then come the logistician Monsieur Jacques, Swiss patrols on time to the minute, and Eni, an art-history student. He will never see his father again.

A manuscript from a cell
Special unit, special measures, no books and no visitors. Every few days the written pages vanish from the cell and travel to Belgrade through secret channels. That is how this book was made. The first pages were written back in 2021, in Belgrade’s “Specijala”.
In this book you will also meet Zdravko Čolić, Vlado Georgiev, Aca Lukas, Modelsice, Dado Topić…

Prolog

Born in 1969 in Mionica, raised in Valjevo. In the late eighties he trained at the old Radnički club in Belgrade’s Crveni krst. Interpol’s special unit lists him as a known member of the “non-existent, yet so effective” Pink Panther gang.
“Liberally educated, well read and eloquent, with his intellect and powers of observation he could have reached the very top of honest careers,” writes Nenad Simić.
He wrote Pogrešan izbor in prison, in Belgrade and Düsseldorf.
